Longer Songs in Rotation Now

To help reduce my liability for performance royalties, I am only playing songs that are longer than 6 minutes long. This will mean that less than 10 songs per hour will be played. At .0011 cents per song, if you listen for an hour, I will owe 1.1 cents. And since VIP listeners earn me about 1.1 cent per hour, I will be breaking even, or least not hemorrhaging money. I’m sorry to have to do this, but it’s a war, and the first casualty were the free listeners. The second casualties are the more familiar, traditional, shorter Christmas songs.

My next step is to compile a report for all the artists I played last year, and ask those artists if they felt that the airplay Christmas Music 24/7 gave was helpful or not. Then if it was, to ask if they could grant me a waiver so that I won’t be liable for those performance royalties.

If you have any questions or concerns about anything in this mess, just ask me. If I don’t know the answer to your question, I can find out.
